Product Description

This product is made of a super tacky butyl rubber that sticks well to most masonry surfaces and also polyethylene.  Being a two sided tape, this will allow you to mount objects on vertical surfaces and will also create a seal.  In some situations it can be used as an alternative to using nails and washers or screws to mechanically fasten the polyethylene liner or rigid foam insulation (such as our Bora-Foam).  At the same time, it can serve the purpose of sealing the liner or insulation board to the wall and eliminating the need for caulking.

Directions for attaching polyethylene or Bora-Foam to a wall or pier:First you need to firmly apply the tape to the masonry surface.  Then pull the paper backing carefully off by pulling alongside of the wall (as opposed to away from the wall).  Finally, apply the top edge of your liner (or foam board) to the face of the tape.  You now have fastened the liner (or foam board) to the wall and also created a seal.

  2. Great tape 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Jun 2020

A contractor happened to be there picking up at the same time I was.
He said that this is the BEST butyl tape.
    He was right.
    This stuff ROCKS.
Just make sure your surface isn't dirty or wet.
I used a new grill cleaning brush to brush down the cinderblock just to be sure.

  5. Sticks to any dry dust free surface 5 Star Review

Has worked great on unpainted CMU's. I have not had any problems, and as a tip I use a little hard roller to run over it and seat it to the porous CMU finish.

  6. Double side tape 5 Star Review

So far so good. The tape is holding great to the block walls. Plactic sheeting is now attached to the tape. From what I can tell, the tape is working great. The area under the house is now dry and smells better.

    Great tape. Did the job.

  8. Adhesion issues 3 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Mar 2019

This tape sticks excellent to skin and ploy. Not very well to older crawls walls with effluence. Walls have to be completely dry and clean as noted. I would like to see this product adhere better to the typical crawl walls. New block and brick, no problem. Better get out your wire brush on older walls.

  9. Great tape for cinder block 4 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Aug 2018

We tested this tape in two crawl spaces. This stuff sticks like crazy to cinder block walls. It sticks to the plastic well too. We were using 8 mil poly.

We had trouble getting it to perform well on brick. It seems the uneven surface of the single brick stem walls gives us trouble - especially when encountering an adjacent pier.

One tip that everyone needs to know is that it works best if you brush any dust and debris from the concrete surface before you apply it. Just a quick brush will do. And it seems to work best if you let it sit on the wall for a few minutes before pulling the cover off of the front facing side.

  10. First roll was great but not the Second roll 4 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Aug 2018

The first roll of butyl came off perfectly and cut clean on the entire roll w/ almost no waste. The second roll did not come off so well. It kept sticking to the lower paper and separating from the upper tape, stretching it. Cutting the second roll was very difficult was well as it kept sticking to the Knife/Scissors. This made the application difficult. The separation issue caused about 10-20 feet of waste, luckily I had just enough. Overall, the tape stuck well, but application can be more challenging if the butyl doesn't cooperate.
